Actress Ruby Rose Joins Protest Against Jimmy Kimmel's Show Suspension

Australian actress Ruby Rose, known for her roles in Orange Is The New Black and Batwoman, joined a protest in Hollywood on Thursday against the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's talk show.

Rose was among hundreds of writers and actors from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA who gathered outside Disney's Burbank headquarters in California. The protest was organised by the Writers Guild in support of Kimmel, whose show was pulled on September 17 following criticism for tying Kirk's shooter to far-right extremism and mocking Trump's response.

During the demonstration, Rose wore a brown top with hockey stick motifs, a black Prada cross-body bag, gold jewelry, and oversized sunglasses. She was photographed holding a "NO KINGS" sign, and her tattoos on her forearms were visible as she rolled up her sleeves to her elbows.

Rose's previous employers include the producers and network behind the TV series Batwoman and the show Orange Is The New Black. She had recently been fired from Batwoman on The CW network.

The protest outside the El Capital Entertainment Centre in Hollywood was not the only show of support for Jimmy Kimmel. Actor Jake Ferree was among those in the crowd, and Wanda Sykes, set to appear on the show, warned that Trump had "ended freedom of speech" and urged support. Rosie O'Donnell, Mike Birbiglia, Sophia Bush, Maren Morris, and Ben Stiller also voiced outrage.

The suspension of Kimmel's show received praise from Trump, who called it "great news for America." However, Nexstar Media and Sinclair Broadcast Group announced they would drop the program "for now."

Ruby Rose's appearance at the protest comes after a series of alarming social media posts earlier this year, where she mentioned the late Virginia Giuffre-an Epstein accuser who died by suicide in April.

Rose has also faced harassment since her 2020 injury on the set of Batwoman. She did not comment on these issues during the protest but shared glimpses from the demonstration via Instagram Stories.

Jean Smart voiced her horror and defended Kimmel's free speech, stating that the suspension was "not right." The incident highlights the ongoing debate about the boundaries of free speech and the impact of political pressure on the entertainment industry.
