Prosecutor requests maximum sentence for Daler Bobiev's guardian
Revised Article:
Veronika Naumova, a woman from Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, is facing a hefty sentence for a slew of alleged crimes. Prosecutor Boris Krylov requested a 25-year prison term for Naumova, with an additional two years of restricted freedom and a fine of 100,000 rubles.
The Russian Criminal Code sets a maximum prison term for women at 25 years for a combined offense. However, this limit can be exceeded if at least one of the committed crimes is classified as a "terrorist act." In such a case, the maximum combined sentence is 30 years, while the total sentence length from multiple convictions can reach 35 years.
Naumova and her nephew, Danila Yegolnikov, have been charged with 49 offenses. These include:
- brutal murder of a child motivated by racial hatred;
- intentional grievous bodily harm to a child;
- torture;
- unlawful confinement of a child;
- involving a child in the commission of a serious crime through threats;
- failure to perform parental obligations and acting cruelly towards the child;
- fraud to obtain over 119,000 rubles in benefits.
Investigators believe Naumova mistreated the boy between 2019 and 2022 and forced Yegolnikov to commit crimes under threats of eviction. The court is seeking a six-year prison sentence for Yegolnikov to be served in a general-regime colony.
In a disturbing turn of events, 2-year-old Daler Bobiev was killed on December 2, 2022. Naumova reportedly bound Bobiev's legs with tape, beat him, and transported him to the bathroom. The autopsy revealed that the child had been drowned. Naumova's guardian remained silent about Bobiev's death from January to June 2023 and illegally received social welfare payments for him.
The alleged crimes committed by Veronika Naumova, as detailed in the revised article, span across diverse categories, including crimes against a child, such as brutal murder, intentional grievous bodily harm, and torture, all cases that fall under the 'crime-and-justice' category. Furthermore, the general news outlets report that Naumova's nephew, Danila Yegolnikov, is also facing charges related to these crimes, highlighting the gravity of the situation and its coverage in political news.
