Proposed Plans for Rotman Real Estate

The Rotmans building, a 300,000 square foot property on 725 Southbridge Street, has been a topic of interest among Holy Cross students recently. Ben Lepper '25, the Editor-in-Chief of The Spire and The Criterion, and Controller of Free Speech, has proposed several ideas for the building's potential transformation. However, it is not yet known what the college plans to do with the building.

Lepper, who majors in English with a French Minor, has suggested several intriguing visions for the Rotmans building. One proposal is to collaborate with Acoustic Java to turn the building into a massive coffee shop and bakery. Another idea is to construct another music center, while another still is to make the Rotmans building the official Holy Cross museum. An unusual yet entertaining suggestion is to install a giant bouncy house complex.

Lepper also proposes moving Brooks to the Rotmans building, although this idea has not been widely discussed. He has also expressed a desire to erect a memorial to the Kimball to-go boxes, a beloved campus tradition.

Nathan Howard '25, involved with The Spire, Moot Court, and hailing from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, is another student with ideas for the Rotmans building. Howard, who majors in Art History and Political Science, has not publicly shared his proposals.

Kate Santini '27, the Chief News Editor, has not yet reported any definitive plans for the Rotmans building. As of now, the college has not announced any decisions regarding the building's future.

Matt Nickerson '24 captured Lepper's image for the Crusader of the Week feature, highlighting his role as a visionary for the Rotmans building. Despite Lepper's proposals, the college's plans for the building remain unclear.

As the college continues to consider potential uses for the Rotmans building, students like Lepper and Howard are eager to share their ideas and contribute to the campus community. The future of the Rotmans building is yet to be determined, but the ideas and enthusiasm of students like Lepper and Howard are a testament to the vibrant and creative spirit of Holy Cross.
