SV Waldhof Mannheim Part Ways with Coach Dominik Glawogger

In a surprising turn of events, SV Waldhof Mannheim has terminated the contract of coach Dominik Glawogger after just two matchdays. The decision comes amidst reports of a falling out between CEO Gerhard Zuber and Glawogger, with Zuber reportedly expressing dissatisfaction with the team's development under the coach.

Glawogger, who took over as coach in April, played a significant role in saving the team from relegation last season. However, the start of the new season did not yield the hoped-for results, with the team losing their second match of the season 0:1 against Hansa Rostock. This may have displeased the decision-makers, as Glawogger fielded a starting lineup without any new signings.

Interim coach Asif Saric is likely to be in charge for the upcoming state cup game against SpVgg Neckarelz, but he is not seen as a long-term solution. Instead, the focus is on finding a permanent replacement, with Christoph Dabrowski being considered as a potential successor for Glawogger.

Dabrowski, a former professional footballer, is known for his experience in German football both as a player and coach. He played mainly as a defensive midfielder and later transitioned into coaching roles. Dabrowski's coaching history includes a two-and-a-half-year stint at Rot-Weiss Essen, making him a candidate for coaching positions at clubs like SV Waldhof Mannheim.

Negotiations for Glawogger to become U19 coach at SSV Jahn Regensburg were successfully concluded, but he will not be joining them due to his dismissal from SV Waldhof Mannheim. Meanwhile, negotiations for Luc Holtz, who has just resigned as coach of the Luxembourg national team, are ongoing. Holtz could make a move to Germany, and it is possible that he will be presented in Mannheim soon.

Marcel Seegert, the team's former captain, has moved to SSV Ulm, leaving a void in the team's leadership. Terrence Boyd, the team's top scorer, was benched by Glawogger, adding to the speculation surrounding the coach's departure.

With the next DFB-Pokal game not until August 24th against Viktoria Köln, the Mannheim decision-makers have time to find a successor for Glawogger. Top of the list for potential candidates is Luc Holtz, followed by Christoph Dabrowski. The Mannheim decision-makers are expected to install a new coach by the home game against Köln.

In the 3rd division, this marks the first coaching dismissal of the season. The search for a new coach at SV Waldhof Mannheim is ongoing, with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new coach who will lead the team to better results.

  • Despite Glawogger's past success in saving SV Waldhof Mannheim from relegation, the team's poor start in the new season led to his dismissal, opening the door for a potential new coach to join European-leagues football.
  • As negotiations for Luc Holtz, a former coach of the Luxembourg national team, are ongoing, he could be a strong candidate to lead SV Waldhof Mannheim in sports, particularly football, and turn the team's fortunes around.
