The Golden Autumn Festival is set to return to Meiningen, Germany, from September 26th to 28th, 2025. This year's event promises a delightful exploration of pleasure, as encapsulated in the festival's motto, "What a delight!".

The festival will kick off on Friday, September 26th, with a cocktail concert at 5 pm in the Saxon Court. The prologue concert, themed "What a pleasure!", will take place on September 21st at 7:30 pm in the Herder Church in Weimar, providing a musical prelude to the festivities.

On Saturday, September 27th, at 9:30 am, a countryside tour to historical organs in the Meiningen area will take place. This tour offers a unique opportunity to delve into the region's rich musical heritage.

The opening performance of the festival will be the opera "Didone abbandonata" by Domenico Sarro at the State Theatre Meiningen at 7:30 pm. At 3:30 pm on the same day, a "Musically-poetic Pleasure Garden" event will take place in the Meiningen castle church.

The highlight of Sunday, September 28th, will be the performance of "La colpa originale," or "The Original Sin" by Francesco Bartolomeo Conti, at 6 pm in the Meininger Stadtkirche. This will be followed by the prize-winner's concert of the festival idea competition on the topic of enjoyment at 10 pm in the Marble Hall of Schloss Elisabethenburg. Submissions for the competition are open until March 31st.

During the intermission of the performance on September 28th at 11 am, festival-goers can indulge in a taste of delight at the Tower Café with a piece of cake and a cup of coffee.

Alice Lackler, an opera, lieder, and concert singer, is the new artistic director of GOLDEN AUTUMN. She is also a sociologist at ZOiS (Center for East European and International Studies) in Berlin.

The festival will conclude with an evening concert dedicated to the enjoyment of tobacco and wine, titled "Hangover and the cigarette afterwards."

Tickets for the festival can be obtained via the festival's website (www.goldener-herbst.de) and the Meiningen Tourist Information.
