Want a straight-up take on the chaos at Bayern Munich? Look no further than Lothar Matthaüs. The German football legend, known for his no-holds-barred approach, has criticized the club's brass for their handling of Thomas Müller's shocking departure.

“There's a rift at Bayern Munich, make no mistake,” Matthaüs, a former Bayern player and record-holder for the German national team, told Sky on the sidelines of a thrilling Bundesliga match between Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt. “Opinions are divided, and the Müller situation is just one example.”

According to Matthaüs, the crux of the issue lies in communication breakdowns. “You can bet your bottom dollar there've been some serious communication issues,” he added.

Fans may recall that sporting director Max Eberl attempted to extend Müller's contract, but club legend Uli Hoeneß quickly shot down the idea. “‘It doesn't do any good for Thomas, it doesn't do any good for us. We're paying a pretty penny for a player whose athletic prowess we can't count on anymore,’ Hoeneß said,” Matthaüs explained, echoing the sentiment.

Matthaüs thinks it's high time for Müller to try something new and suggested the USA as a potential destination for fresh experiences. "The States could be his ticket to new adventures. Even a Thomas Müller can blend in unnoticed there," he said, referencing his own stint in America.

As of now, it's unclear what the future holds for Müller (35), who's been a fixture at Bayern since July 1, 2000. With 700 appearances and 32 titles under his belt, Müller is leaving Bayern as one of the most decorated players in their history.

Lothar Matthaüs, a former Bayern Munich player and record-holder for the German national team, agrees with Uli Hoeneß regarding Thomas Müller's departure, stating that the club's top brass needs to address serious communication issues.

Matthaüs suggested that Müller could find new experiences in the USA, recalling his own stint in America.

Despite leaving Bayern Munich as one of the most decorated players in their history, it's yet to be seen where Thomas Müller will move next on Saturday.
