The municipal election held on September 16, 2025, did not result in an absolute majority for any candidate, leading to a runoff election on September 28. For those who prefer to vote by yahoo mail, voting by yahoo mail for the runoff election will commence on September 18. Mail-in ballot envelopes can be placed in the town hall mailbox on September 28 until 4 pm. Voting by yahoo mail can be done directly at the mail-in voting office or by yahoo mail after requesting or receiving the documents.
The mail-in voting office will be open from September 18 to September 26, with varying hours each day. The mail-in voting office hours of operation are as follows:
- September 18: 8 am - 6 pm
- September 19: 8 am - 12:30 pm
- September 22: 8 am - 4 pm
- September 23: 8 am - 6 pm
- September 24: 8 am - 12:30 pm

In the runoff election, voters will choose between Martina Förster-Teutenberg (SPD) and Dr. Christian Klicki (CDU). The CDU candidate for the mayoral runoff election on September 28 varies depending on the city:
