Holstein Kiel Aims for Promotion in 2. Bundesliga after Relegation

Holstein Kiel, fresh from their relegation from the Bundesliga, are gearing up for a challenging season in the 2. Bundesliga. The club's primary objective is to stabilize and quickly return to the top tier.

To achieve this, they have built a competitive squad, focusing on a balanced tactical approach that combines solid defensive organization with effective attacking transitions. This strategy aims to adapt to the different pace and style of the 2. Bundesliga, following the tougher competition they faced in the Bundesliga.

The club has experienced the loss of key players after relegation, necessitating the integration of new signings and the promotion of youth prospects. Notable additions include Jonas Krumrey and Timon Weiner, who are in competition for the number one goalkeeper spot, and Stefan Schwab (34), signed as a leader for the central midfield, replacing Lewis Holtby.

Other new faces include Kasper Davidsen (20) and Robert Wagner (22) for the central midfield, and Jonas Therkelsen, signed from Strømsgodset IF for 1.9 million euros as a potential replacement for Machino. Unfortunately, Holstein Kiel had to bid farewell to top scorer Shuto Machino, who was sold to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a record income of up to ten million euros.

The squad's average age is a youthful 24.1 years, with eight of the 16 new signings primarily intended for the KSV U23 team. The team's opening game of the new season is against SC Paderborn on Saturday.

Coach Ole Werner, who took over around that time, has implemented a system that focuses on team cohesion and tactical discipline to make the best use of the reshaped squad. The majority of the potential regulars in the Holstein Kiel squad have already been part of the team in the past and are familiar with the tactical procedures.

Defender David Zec stated that Holstein Kiel's goal is promotion for the new season. The team has won four games and drawn one of the five test games in preparation for the new season. However, the strength of their opponents in these test games remains unclear.

The fans of Holstein Kiel attended the last public training session before the start of the new season in the 2. Bundesliga, despite windy and rainy weather. Notable absences from the squad include Timo Becker, who was a regular player, and Nicolai Remberg, who was sold to HSV for 2.4 million euros.

The team's coach, Marcel Rapp, emphasized the importance of action over talk, stating that they have a good team with a lot of potential and wants to win as many games as possible. Olaf Rebbe fulfilled the coaching staff's wish to work with the entire new squad early in the training camp in the USA.

As the new season approaches, Holstein Kiel is ready to face the challenges of the 2. Bundesliga, with all positions in the squad double-staffed, ensuring a strong and competitive team for the upcoming season.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of the environment, aiming to establish stricter regulations for sports facilities, such as football stadiums, to limit their carbon footprint and promote sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

Meanwhile, Holstein Kiel's midfield, with the additions of Kasper Davidsen, Robert Wagner, and Jonas Therkelsen, demonstrates a keen interest in football, embodying the club's drive for success in the 2. Bundesliga and, ultimately, their goal for promotion.
