Günther Schöpf: Local AfD Politician in Bergisch Gladbach

Günther Schöpf, a local politician in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, has been serving as the chairman of the AfD local association and the fraction in the city council since 2020. Schöpf took over the leadership of the now two-member fraction after Fabian Schütz's resignation at the end of 2021.

Schöpf's political beliefs often align with the majority, with some notable exceptions. He is known for his stance on man-made climate change and migration, where he tends to vote differently. He joined the AfD in 2018, citing his belief that it's not enough to just vote in elections, and that an opposition party is often smeared and excluded, even though they make well-founded and good proposals.

In the 2020 election, Schöpf received 4.16 percent of the votes, and the AfD won three council seats with 4.6 percent. However, one seat was lost due to resignation. The AfD has refrained from its own motions in the specialist committees, with most speeches being inconspicuous.

Schöpf is known for leading "spaziergänge" of the few remaining "Querdenker" with a banana flag since the corona time. He gets upset about ignorance, stubbornness, and selfishness. His strength lies in making decisions, while his weakness is being too kind and trusting, which, in the past, has led to being taken advantage of.

Schöpf's role models in his career are Steve Jobs and Dietmar Hopp, and in his personal life, his parents. His greatest achievement, according to him, is managing his life well so far. His greatest defeat or worst mistake was trusting people who took advantage of him.

Schöpf's big goal is to help Germany remember what made it strong. His advice to his children is to be critical and question, and to learn and educate themselves as much as possible. His perfect day includes good food, good friends, good weather, and good entertainment.

Looking ahead, Schöpf announced that the AfD wants to triple its result in the upcoming election on September 14. He presents himself seriously and pragmatically in the city council and main committee.

In addition, a chatbot has been developed to answer questions about the parties in Bergisch Gladbach's election. For accurate and detailed information about Schöpf’s precise political positions and campaign promises, it would be best to consult his official campaign materials, statements, or local news coverage from the specific period when he was running for mayor.
