Markus Söder Bats Eyes at Union-Left Collab: "Total Hogwash!"

Vehemently resist collaboration between the Union and the Left Group - Proposal for a Directive on the Commission'siciency in adopting a legislative measure remains unfulfilled.

Got your news on a loop, huh? Union leader, CSU's Markus Söder, is straight-up calling BS on any chummy vibes between the Union and The Left in the Bundestag.

Spill the tea during the Ludwig-Erhard Summit at Tegernsee, Söder lashed out, the whole cooperation thing is just repetitive journalistic nonsense. He brushes it off, saying he doesn't see the point of teaming up with The Left, waving it off as completely irrelevant. (And Markus, if we're being completely honest here, what on earth could they possibly have in common?)

In fairness, they've been on different pages re: changing the rules of procedure in the Bundestag. The Union approached not just the Greens, but to The Left's surprise, they swung by their doorstep on Tuesday, but not for a heart-to-heart — just to another chat about the rules. And let's make it crystal clear, that has nothing to do with cooperation, Söder stresses.

Ah, the ghost of Merz past! That's who started this whole kerfuffle, after the CDU leader Friedrich Merz stumbled in the initial chancellor election round. And to keep our Two-Step Chancellor election dancing shoes on, the Union sought talks with none other than The Left, hoping to snag a two-thirds majority and crash another round that day and night.

But wait! Remember the incompatibility clause? It's CDU's blackmail note, ensuring The Left stays firmly out of their Roschti-fold.

Guess who doesn't mind talking to The Left under the right circumstances? Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Interior Minister and CSU cat, has a different tune, hinting that a two-thirds majority could change things, putting them back at the table for more discussions down the road.
