The runoff election in Lünen is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025. Here's what you need to know about voting by mail and the polling stations.

Voting by mail for the runoff election will begin on September 18, 2025. The mail-in voting office in the Lünen town hall, located on the ground floor of the North Wing (rooms 13 to 19), will be open for voting. The opening hours for the mail-in voting office have not been specified yet, but will be announced soon.

The mail-in ballot envelopes with completed ballots can be placed in the town hall mailbox on the day of the runoff election, September 28, until 4 pm. Voters who have indicated they want documents for a possible runoff election will receive them automatically by post starting September 18.

Those who no longer have their voting notification can find the list of polling stations at www.unser website/kommunalwahl2025 or contact the election team at 02306 104-2040. Polling station information is also available on the voting notification.

The runoff election will be between Martina Förster-Teutenberg (SPD) and Dr. Christian Klicki (CDU). The election team can be contacted for questions at 02306 104-2040 or by email at wahlen@unser website.

It's important to note that no new voting notifications will be sent. No candidate in the Lünen municipal election, which took place on September 16, received an absolute majority of votes, necessitating a runoff election.

Voters can cast their mail-in votes either at the mail-in voting office in the town hall or by post. An online application for a ballot with mail delivery is possible until September 24, 12 pm, at www.unser website/wahlschein. Voting is also possible without a voting notification with a valid official ID document.

On the day of the runoff election, the polling stations will be open from 8 am to 6 pm. The mail-in voting office in the town hall will also be open during these hours. The city administration will inform immediately if there are any delays in the opening of the mail-in voting office due to the availability of ballot papers.

We encourage all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote in the runoff election and help determine the future of Lünen. For more information, please contact the election team.
