Prompt separation announced: Coach Glawogger of Waldhof is dismissed.
SV Waldhof Mannheim Part Ways with Coach Dominik Glawogger
After a brief tenure spanning across two seasons, Dominik Glawogger has been relieved of his duties as coach of SV Waldhof Mannheim. The club's sporting director, Gerhard Zuber, announced Glawogger's departure, citing the inability to progress in sporting development as the reason.
Glawogger managed the third-tier football club for just nine competitive games, winning three of them. However, last season's narrow escape from relegation did not carry over into the new season under his leadership. The team has played two matches in the new season, winning none and drawing one. The most recent match, a 0:1 defeat against FC Hansa Rostock, appears to have been the deciding factor in Glawogger's departure.
The club has not disclosed specific reasons for Glawogger's departure beyond Zuber's statement. The statement reads, "Despite personnel continuity, we were unable to take the next step in our sporting development at the start of the season."
As of August 2025, SV Waldhof Mannheim has not announced a potential successor for Glawogger. However, news broke yesterday that former Luxembourg national men's team coach Luc Holtz has been appointed as the new coach. Holtz, known for his emphasis on ball possession and defensive solidity, is expected to implement a similar playing style at Waldhof Mannheim.
Prior to this, Mannheim had drawn 2:2 against SC Verl. The team's previous match was a draw, marking Glawogger's last competitive game as coach. Glawogger took over from Bernhard Trares as coach in April.
