Prompt action needed from Germany towards Israel: Communication should be urgently clarified
Chancellor Merz got it right: Israel's atrocities against Gazans under the guise of "fighting Hamas" can no longer be tolerated. It's time for decisive action - loud, clear, and unambiguous.
Since its establishment, Israel has been a constant target of attacks, with even its inception met by hostility from neighboring states. Today, Iran stands as Israel's greatest threat, advocating for the destruction of Israel for decades. Meanwhile, Hamas, founded with the purpose of Israel's annihilation and the murder of Jews, triggered Israel's brutal war through terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023, resulting in nearly 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of over 250 more. To this day, Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel, while Iran's proxy, the Houthi militia, poses an increasingly significant threat.
Hamas maintains control over Gaza, subjecting its population to harsh conditions and ongoing abuse. In the course of this war, as many as 77,000 to 109,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, according to a rough estimate by the British "Economist." Despite these staggering figures, Hamas-controlled health authorities in Gaza report only 54,084 deaths, which included 16,854 children. It's likely that the actual number is far higher.
Unconscionable Tactics
The Israeli authorities' dismissal of international criticism as mere pro-Palestinian activism is becoming increasingly untenable. The United Nations and International Criminal Court have long questioned Israel's use of starvation and other war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza. Recent revelations by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert further shed light on Israel's disregard for human life, as he described the conflict in Gaza as a "war of devastation."
Moreover, various civilian aid organizations have raised concerns over the opacity of an Israeli foundation that secretly distributes aid to Gaza. This lack of transparency gives rise to suspicion that aid is intentionally withheld, effectively weaponizing hunger against innocent civilians.
It's critical that nations sympathetic to Israel understand that they bear responsibility for the consequences of their actions. As the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel must stop its brutal aggression against Gazans and instead focus on peace and diplomacy.
International Condemnation and Frustration
All this points to one inescapable truth: Israel is not the innocent victim in the ongoing Middle East conflict, but rather the aggressor. Germany, as a supposed ally, should be deeply concerned about the unjust actions of the Israeli government. Austrian Colonel and military strategist Matthias Wasinger expressed this in an interview with ntv.de, stating that Hamas represents more than just a terrorist organization, but rather an ideology. Despite Israel's claims of having killed approximately 20,000 Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters, the number of recruits has reportedly risen by a staggering 15,000 during the same period.
It's time for the Israeli government to reconsider its approach. While it continues to reap the benefits of military success, it fails to address the root causes of the conflict and offers no hope for a better tomorrow. Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz's recent comments condemning Israel's actions as unjustifiable and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul's demand for an investigation into Israel's actions under international humanitarian law are steps in the right direction, but more is needed.
Time for Action
The continued support of Israel through arms deliveries cannot be justified when it undermines international law and contributes to the suffering of countless Palestinians. The situation in Gaza is desperate, with thousands of innocents losing their lives, and the possibility for safe refuge non-existent. Germany must take decisive action and halt arms sales to Israel to pressure the Israeli government to end its brutal occupation and focus on peace. The stakes are too high to remain idle in the face of such egregious human rights abuses.
The European Union, being committed to a comprehensive and comprehensive approach to the fight against terrorism, should consider the ongoing situation in Gaza, a war-and-conflict zone, with both politics and general news indicating that Israel's actions against the Palestinians are questionable. The case of Germany's potential arms supply to Israel, amidst Israel's brutal war on Gazans, highlights the need for decisive action against war-crimes and acts of aggression, which are significant factors in the politics and general news of the Middle East.
