Promoting Security Essential for Drawing Legitimate Investment - Tinubu

In a candid chat with the elders and leaders of Katsina State during a state dinner at the Government House, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood firm in his mission to conquer the lawless territories plaguing the nation, with a strong emphasis on the forests in the North West.

The President pledged to employ cutting-edge technology to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in the region. He acknowledged the state of the security crisis, stating, "I concur that security is a primary concern for our nation. I've recently spoken to our brave soldiers and assured them we'll do everything in our power to stamp out terrorism and banditry."

He emphasized, "We'll increase our investment in technology and take charge of the forests. Security is a national responsibility, not just a local or regional matter. If we truly wish to entice investment into Nigeria, we must resolve the security predicament."

Turning a critical eye to the economic landscape, Tinubu lauded the nation's recent economic growth, attributing it to bold policy reforms. He also promised aid to victims of terrorism as they work to rebuild their lives.

The President hinted at the potential expansion of Katsina airport, anticipating its ability to stimulate employment and economic activity.

In appreciation of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari's support during the APC presidential primaries, Tinubu thanked him. Among the attendees were the governors of Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Benue, Yobe, Sokoto, and Kwara States.

The President lauded the contributions of Katsina natives to national development and commended former President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of unyielding integrity who significantly influenced the country.

Governor Dikko Radda shared that the state had initiated a local security force to gather and relay intelligence. He noted that the proposed airport upgrade—including a cargo terminal, passenger terminal, and fire truck system—would cost ₦54 billion and generate approximately 2,700 direct jobs.

Former Governor Masari, expressing gratitude for the appointment of two ministers from the state, justified his allegiance to Tinubu's campaign.

"You possess the political fortitude and courage to tackle the challenges facing this country. People resist change and new order, and if you're not resolute and determined, you'll succumb, and the problem persists," Masari stated.

He underscored that to effectively address the insecurity in the North West, action at the grassroots level is crucial.
