Boosting Reading Skills: Free Graphic Novels for MV Students on World Book Day
Embrace the joy of reading with fellow students in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern! The Ministry of Education plans to celebrate World Book Day 2025 by offering free graphic novels to secondary school pupils once again. Schools have until the end of January 2025 to join the campaign named "Ich schenk Dir eine Geschichte." Beginning on April 18, eligible students can claim a complimentary copy of the upcoming comic novel "Robot Mission: An Exciting Case for the Luck Agent" by Anke Girod and Timo Grubing.
The Ministry of Education, Stiftung Lesen, Stiftung Buchkultur, the reading promotion program of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association, Deutsche Post DHL, cbj Verlag, and ZDF are working together to fuel children's passion for books and encourage parents to read aloud. Jörg F. Maas, the Managing Director of Stiftung Lesen, expressed his concern over the decrease in children's reading skills in recent years, stating, "Educational studies have revealed a concerning drop in our children's reading skills."
This project catapults to the top spot in Germany for promoting reading, as over one million children from fourth and fifth grades and special schools use the book vouchers each year. Schools can request the vouchers for their students by visiting .
