Prominent Russian folk artist Ivan Krasko passes away

Acclaimed Russian actor Ivan Krasko, aged 94, succumbed to his life's journey. The news was shared by Alexander Rzhantsev, vice chairman of St. Petersburg's Legislative Assembly, through his Telegram channel.

Ivan Krasko, a renowned Soviet and Russian actor, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 94. Known for his long and distinguished career in theater and film, Krasko began his professional acting journey in 1961.

He made his film debut in the mid-1960s and was accepted into the troupe of the Leningrad Academic Big Dramatic Theater named after Maxim Gorky. Later, in 1966, Krasko became an actor at the Dramatic Theater named after V.F. Komissarzhevskaya.

Throughout his career, Krasko played over 100 roles, including a minor role in the detective series "Accident." He was also known for his roles in films such as "Blockade," "Afghan Breakthrough," "Mr. Designer," "The Hunting Season," and "Broken Lamps 2."

Krasko's health took a turn for the worse in early August when it was announced that he had been hospitalized. According to his concert director, Vyacheslav Smorodinov, Krasko was in intensive care at the time.

Krasko's personal life was marked by four marriages and a son, Andrey Krasko, who is also an actor.

Throughout his career, Krasko earned multiple honors, including the Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1976), People's Artist of Russia (1992), Order of Honour (2010), and The Golden Mask (2018). He was a close friend of Alexander Rzhanenkov, another well-known Russian actor.

Krasko was born on September 23, 1930, and his funeral date is still unknown. His passing marks the end of a remarkable career in Russian theater and cinema.
