Light Read:

Sosteen, the three-time Group 1 winner and favored offspring of trainer Andre Fabre, is primed to compete in the £1 million Coral-Eclipse for the first time in two decades. Fabre himself acknowledged the challenge ahead for Sosteen, stating the task would be a "pretty demanding one" for the French star during their debut run outside France.

This horse established itself as the prime contender for the leading French-trained colt with an impressive performance over a mile and a half last season, winning the Grand Prix de Paris and the Prix Niel. Adding further Group 1 successes this year, the versatile stallion has added victories in the Prix Ganay (1m21⁄2f) and the Prix d'Ipsahan (1m1f) to its stellar resume.

Currently, Coral's betting numbers put the impressive Prince of Wales's Stakes winner Ombudsman at the top with odds of 6-4, while Sosteen trails closely behind with 3-1 odds. The potential Ballydoyle contingent of Camille Pissarro and Delacroix round out the top prospects with 5-1 and 8-1 odds, respectively.

Notable competitors for the 2021 Coral-Eclipse included Aidan O'Brien's St Mark's Basilica, who showed strong form with wins earlier in the year, as well as John Gosden's Mishriff and Lord North, who also displayed impressive results.
