Prominent High School Talents Converge in the Twin Cities Pro-Am Event
The 2025 Twin Cities Pro-Am, held at DeLaSalle High School, was a showcase for some of the state's most promising young basketball talent.
Among the standouts was Jalyn Patterson, a hyper athletic playmaker from Minnesota Prep, who displayed his elite pick-and-roll skills and NBA range. Patterson had already showcased his scoring prowess in a previous game, scoring 44 points against Prolific Prep.
Another impressive performer was Ahmed Nur, a 2027 player from Hopkins HS. Despite being the second youngest player, Nur made a significant impact as a cutter and 3-point shooter.
Jayden Moore, also from Hopkins HS, also shone in the Pro-Am. The cerebral point guard demonstrated quick hands and the ability to score when needed.
The Pro-Am featured high school players on every team, providing an opportunity for young players to gain valuable experience against professionals. One such young player was KJ Wilson, a 5'11 PG from Tartan HS (2028). Despite limited minutes, Wilson proved to be an outstanding floor spacer, with a proven 3-point threat that opened driving lanes for his teammates.
Cedric Tomes, a 6'0 PG from East Ridge HS (2026), was another young player who made a mark at the Pro-Am. Tomes, who was a Minnesota Gophers recruit, displayed natural scoring ability from deep range and high IQ. However, due to the presence of older contemporaries, Tomes was forced to come off the bench.
The tournament culminated with the Cherry Pickers winning the championship after a hard-fought 65–55 victory over Team Epitome. While individual high school standout names beyond Jalen Suggs, Tyus Jones, and Sy Chatman were not detailed in the available results, their performances undoubtedly added to the excitement of the tournament.
Jamar Diggs, founder of the Pro-Am and a professional player in France, no doubt played a significant role in organising a tournament that provided a platform for the next generation of Minnesota basketball stars.
