Prominent Golfer Ben Griffin Primed to Claim Top Victory with this Notable Brand After More Than Three Decades

Ready for a fascinating tale in the world of golf? Ben Griffin, the multiple PGA Tour champ and former loan officer, is making a stunning comeback after a four-year break – and he's creating quite a buzz with his latest performance at the US Open.

After leaving golf behind in 2021 to dive into a mortgage group, the 29-year-old is back with a burning passion, already nailing victories at this season's Zurich Classic of New Orleans and Charles Schwab Challenge. But there's more to his game than just his skill; he's playing with a golf ball long forgotten: the Maxfli.

In the '90s, grabbing a Maxfli golf ball from the rough would've been a no-brainer – it was almost as coveted as a Titleist. Sadly, after the release of the Titleist Pro V1, Maxfli's time in the limelight began to fade. By 2002, the brand was sold to TaylorMade, and later again in 2008 to Dick's Sporting Goods. Now, it seems, Maxfli might be making a comeback.

You guessed it – Griffin's playing a Maxfli golf ball – and he's got some inspiring tales to share. Intrigued by the ball after Major champion Lexi Thompson signed a deal with the manufacturer, Griffin decided to give it a go in May 2024. He said: "Lexi drew my interest to the ball initially. I saw she was playing it and my caddie, who used to caddie for Lexi's brother Curtis, thought I should at least test out the Maxfli to see how it performed."

The results were impressive – roughly eight yards more distance during testing. And while he didn't see much difference around the green, the distance factor started to captivate him. "There are certain weeks out here when distance has kind of turned into a priority," Griffin shared.

For Maxfli, Griffin's win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans marked the brand's first victory on the PGA Tour in twenty-two years. Should Griffin win the US Open and lift the trophy on Sunday, he'll have made history as the first golfer to win a Major Championship with a Maxfli ball since Greg Norman in 1993.

This four-piece ball features a soft urethane cover, boasting impressive distance off the tee and solid performance in windy conditions. Plus, compared to the best premium golf balls on the market, it's quite affordable. Golf enthusiasts might want to keep an eye on this vintage ball making a resurgence on the greens.

Golf enthusiasts might want to consider trying Maxfli golf balls, as Ben Griffin, a multiple PGA Tour champ, has recently switched to using them and has seen impressive results, including an additional eight yards in distance during testing.

If Ben Griffin wins the US Open and lifts the trophy on Sunday, he will make history as the first golfer to win a Major Championship with a Maxfli ball since Greg Norman in 1993, bringing renewed attention to this vintage golf ball brand.
