Prepare for a star-studded evening, movie enthusiasts! The much-anticipated 75th German Film Awards makes its way to Theater am Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin on Friday. With a guest list boasting 1,700 attendees, it's set to be an unforgettable night honoring homegrown cinematic talent.

The show will be hosted by the incredibly versatile Christian Friedel (46). Known for his roles in critically acclaimed films such as "The Zone of Interest" and "The White Ribbon," as well as the hit TV series "White Lotus," Friedel will also put his musical talents on display. He'll be opening the show with an original song, performed alongside his band Woods of Birnam.

Stargaze with the Elite

A slew of notable faces from the German film industry and beyond will grace the stage, lending their support to Christian Friedel. Spotlight-worthy attendees will include Elyas M'Barek, Jella Haase, Iris Berben, Emilia Schüle, Hannah Herzsprung, actress and director Karoline Herfurth, and internationally recognized director Edward Berger ("All Quiet on the Western Front").

Cultural icons like pianist Igor Levit, writer Juli Zeh, and futurologist Florence Gaub will also be in attendance, adding to the star-studded affair.

Acknowledging Excellence Ahead of Time

While most trophies will be awarded on Friday, a select few categories have already been decided. Casting director An Dorthe Braker will receive the honorary prize for her exceptional contributions to German cinema, while the Lola for "Most Successful Film" goes to director Sven Unterwaldt and producers Alexandra and Meike Kordes for the children's film "The School of Magical Creatures 3," which captivated over three million viewers.

International Acclaim, Local Recognition

This year's nominees are a testament to the power of German cinema, with several productions securing recognition both domestically and abroad. Contenders for the prestigious awards include "The Seed of the Holy Fig Tree" and "September 5." Both are Oscar-nominated films, with "The Seed of the Holy Fig Tree" receiving nods in six categories, including Best Film and Best Director.

In the Best Feature Film category, alongside these two heavyweights, are "In Love, Yours, Hilde," "Islands," "Vena," and "Cologne 75."

Notable actors Sam Riley and Alexander Scheer have received double nominations, with Riley contending for Best Lead Actor for "Islands" and "Cranko," and Scheer nominated twice for Best Supporting Actor in "In Love, Yours, Hilde" and "Cologne 75."
