Prolonged rainfall: Weather experts foresee a tempestuous autumn-like season in July
It seems that summer has taken a temporary hiatus in Germany, as the country experiences an unusual July autumn turn. This weather phenomenon has brought with it stormy weather, isolated hail, and heavy rainfalls, much to the dismay of those longing for warm, sunny days.
According to climate reports, several regions, such as Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, and others, have experienced above-average rainfall in July. Baden-Württemberg, in particular, has seen a precipitation of 310 litres per square metre, making it notably rainy and cool.
The persistent rain has had a significant impact on the water levels of rivers across Germany. The Danube, Neckar, and Upper Rhine, among others, are currently extremely low due to the previous dry months. However, the extra water received from the rain is proving beneficial for the Bodensee, which is currently 58 centimeters below the average for this season.
Meteorologists predict that this rainy weather will persist for several days, potentially changing the current water levels in the Bodensee and other rivers. While the coming days are expected to remain cool and wet, it would need a lot more rain for the water level to return to normal.
The July autumn turn could potentially last for some time before summer makes a strong comeback. This unexpected weather pattern has been a surprise for many, but the Bodensee could use the extra water it receives from the rain.
Yesterday, heavy rainfalls of up to 15 litres per square metre were reported in certain areas, with the Black Forest region experiencing particularly strong storm gusts. Despite the inconvenience caused by the persistent rain, the coming days are expected to benefit the Bodensee.
As the country waits for summer to return, it's important to remember that weather patterns can be unpredictable. Let's hope for sunny skies and warm weather soon!
