'Prolific' Gym Locker Thief Arrested After Bay Area Crime Spree

A 40-year-old woman from California has been arrested after a string of gym locker burglaries across the Bay Area. Andrania Yancy, described by authorities as a 'prolific' thief, was taken into custody on Monday with the help of a regional fugitive task force. She now faces multiple charges linked to thefts spanning several counties. Yancy is accused of targeting gym lockers in San Francisco between November 2025 and March 2026. Investigators believe she used false names to obtain day passes, allowing her to access lockers and steal credit cards. Gyms in the city’s Marina District, along with their members, played a key role in identifying her.

Her arrest follows a long history of similar crimes. Court records show outstanding warrants in San Francisco, El Cerrito, Berkeley, Santa Clara, Oakley, San Mateo County, Contra Costa County, and Orange County. Authorities also noted her repeated failures to appear in court, with offences dating back to 2008. The U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Yancy down in Sacramento. She is currently being held at San Francisco County Jail #2. A court appearance has been set for May 26. Yancy has existing stay-away orders from several fitness businesses in the Bay Area, where she maintains ties. The investigation remains ongoing as police review further evidence.

Yancy’s arrest closes a months-long search for a suspect linked to numerous gym burglaries. She remains in custody while awaiting her court date. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
