Projects are financially backed by the Konrad-Stiftung Salzgitter
In the city of Salzgitter, the Konrad Foundation (Konrad-Stiftung) has announced its decision to fund 84 applications with a total of 850,000 euros. This funding will support various local initiatives, primarily in the sectors of education, social projects, culture, and community development.
Mayor Frank Klingebiel, who chairs the supervisory board, expressed his satisfaction at the support provided to 900 projects since the establishment of the fund in 2011. The funded projects range from singing and shooting clubs to allotment and school associations, as well as volunteer fire departments and various sports clubs.
One of the recipients is the local association Salzgitter of the Johanniter Unfallhilfe, which received around 10,000 euros for protective equipment for their motorcycle squad. The SV Glück Auf 1901 Gebhardshagen received 55,000 euros for a measurement hanger including measurement technology for running events. The Reha and Health Sports Club Salzgitter-Bad also received 300 euros for sports equipment.
Klingebiel appreciates the work of volunteers in Salzgitter, acknowledging their crucial role in the city's projects. He also noted that one meeting is not enough to evaluate and decide on all funding applications, as more than 50 applications have been set aside due to further information and consultation needs and will be treated in a second meeting at the end of September.
Although detailed beneficiary lists and project specifics are not widely accessible online, they can be found in internal reports or local press releases on the official websites of the Konrad Foundation or Salzgitter city. Klingebiel stated that he finds it impressive that there are always new applications, coming from associations and non-profit organizations that have not yet applied for funding or are completely new. He thanks the many volunteers for their extraordinary commitment and for continuously developing new ways.
The Konrad Foundation received 145 applications for funding this year, with a total volume of 5.5 million euros. Klingebiel negotiated the establishment of the Konrad Fund with former Federal Ministers Sigmar Gabriel and Norbert Röttgen. Since 2011, the Konrad Fund has supported almost 900 projects in Salzgitter with a total of 22 million euros.
