"Program 'Together For Palestine' unveils livestream arrangements and confirms performers for substantial Wembley concert"
The UK is gearing up for two significant events this September and October, aiming to raise funds for those affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The 'Gig For Gaza' concert, set to take place at London's TROXY venue on October 17, is the UK's largest fundraising event for Gaza. Tickets for the event are sold out, but the livestream can be watched on YouTube from 7pm on October 17.
Curated by Paul Weller, the concert will feature an impressive lineup of artists, including Primal Scream, Inhaler, Maverick Sabre, and Paul Weller himself. Another event, 'Together For Palestine', will be livestreamed exclusively on YouTube on September 17. Brian Eno will be headlining this event, with performances from Celeste, Leigh-Anne, PinkPantheress, Rina Sawayama, Riz Ahmed, Elyanna, Saint Levant, El Far3i, and many more.
Comedian Guz Khan has been announced as the host for both events. The events will also feature interstitials directed and curated by Amir Nizar Zuabi, showcasing various professionals working in Gaza. Singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry stated that the concert matters as it is about solidarity, love, and saying they see and stand with those in Palestine.
Multiple UN human-rights experts and UN bodies have stated that Israel's military actions in Gaza may amount to genocide. The International Court of Justice has previously found claims of genocide plausible. The money raised from both events will be distributed to Palestinian-led organizations such as Taawon, Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and Palestine Medical Relief Service.
Palestinian DJ Abdulhadi will be going back-to-back with Jamie xx for part of his set and plans to use it to amplify Palestinian voices and make space to grieve, unite, and recharge. Other notable participants include Florence Pugh, Eric Cantona, Francesca Albanese, Laura Whitmore, Mehdi Hasan, Munroe Bergdorf, and many more.
The 'Together For Palestine' gig will be taking place on September 17, and 'Gig For Gaza' will be on October 17. Merchandise is available for purchase on the 'Together For Palestine' online shop. For those unable to attend the events, both the 'Together For Palestine' and 'Gig For Gaza' livestreams can be watched on YouTube.
