International News Flash: Russia's Infrastructure Boom!

Program for Enhancing and Uplifting Underdeveloped Rural Areas and Communities

Get ready, Russia! The country is gearing up to transform its populated areas as we know them, under the guidance of President's decree and the ambitious "Infrastructure for Life" national project.

The project, launched by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, is set to extend its reach to nearly the entire country, with a massive list of 2160 support towns under development. These towns cover key areas like agglomerations, regional administrative centers, and strategic settlements that ensure national security. Notably, more than half of these support towns are small towns, urban-type settlements, and villages.

This urban overhaul is all about uplifting the quality of life of citizens. By 2030, it's expected that the quality of life in these support towns will witness a 30% improvement, with a 60% jump by 2036.

The "Infrastructure for Life" program has 16 areas of focus, spanning from housing provision and the resettlement of dilapidated houses, to improving communal services, roads, and public transport.

But it's not just a one-size-fits-all approach. Different work will be done in populated areas depending on the priority. For instance, small towns and villages will experience a surge in social infrastructure development to combat population outflow, while administrative centers will focus on boosting the economy by strengthening agglomeration ties, capital investments in scientific and technological development, and efficient infrastructure utilization.

Here's a sneak peek into the core development areas:

  1. Housing and utilities: With plans to build an astonishing 1.3 billion sqm of housing by 2036, including 663 million sqm by 2030, aimed at providing an average living space of 33 sqm per person.
  2. Transport infrastructure: Over half of regional roads and 85% of urban agglomeration networks are already in great shape!
  3. Social services: Access to healthcare, education, and public amenities will be made equitable with new constructions and upgrades.
  4. Utility networks: Efforts will be made to streamline technical connections and revise load-calculation standards for reliability.

So, buckle up, Russia! It's about to get a whole lot better! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on this massive transformation!
