Born and bred in Laatzen, nestled near Hannover, Halstenberg kickstarted his journey in the 96 youth system. After a brief stint with Borussia Dortmund's second team and FC St. Pauli, he joined RB Leipzig in 2015. Halstenberg's time with the Saxons saw him play in the Champions League and gain a spot on the German national team. He represented the DFB squad nine times, scoring one goal.

Bundesliga, 165 Bundesliga, 25 DFB-Pokal, and 20 Champions League appearances to his name.
