On a jubilant Friday, young Leo savors an upcoming thrilling weekend. His pops, a pro handball player for the Lions (DHB team, dyn handball), is set to compete.

You guessed it - Leipzig's Lucas Krzikalla (29), an SC DHfK star, who shares the spotlight with handball star Andy Schmid in his children's book "Mein Sprungwurf."

With Nationwide Reading Day in full swing, Lucas ventured to the elementary school and bewitched the first-graders with a few enchanting stories. Their eyes gleamed with wisps of excitement, and they listened with rapt attention, their whispers silenced save for the occasional giggle.

A Children's Delight

Lucas' weekend was a breeze, as SC DHfK didn't have a game until the following Thursday, at Bergischer HC. This respite didn't deter him from his affection for tumbling tykes. Krzikalla, after all, helms the club's Allianz-sponsored handball camp, spending his afternoons instructing little fingers on their first-time handball toss earnestly.

When asked about his penchant for the pint-sized crowd, Lucas credits his mother's influence. A nursery school teacher at heart, she's paved the way for his sentiments towards nurturing young minds.
