Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver Jordan Addison Suspended for First Three Games of 2025 Season

Jordan Addison, a key player for the Minnesota Vikings, has been suspended for the first three games of the 2025 NFL regular season due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. This suspension is related to Addison's 2024 DUI arrest, which he resolved by pleading no contest to a lesser charge of wet reckless driving last month.

The incident occurred on July 12, 2024, when Addison was found asleep at the wheel on a Los Angeles freeway. According to reports, his white Rolls-Royce was blocking lanes on the way to LAX. Addison's blood alcohol level was measured at .08%, which is over the legal limit in California.

The NFL considers this plea, acknowledging alcohol use in a driving incident, as grounds for discipline under the substance abuse policy. As a result, Addison will miss the first three regular-season games against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals. He will be eligible to return for the Vikings' Week 4 game.

Addison has been fined $390 as part of his legal resolution and is currently serving 12 months of probation. He avoided trial by pleading no contest to reckless driving while under the influence of alcohol. The probation can be reduced by completing online courses.

Addison, a third-year WR and a former first-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings, has had a notable early career with 19 touchdowns and 1,786 receiving yards over two seasons. His absence will undoubtedly impact the Vikings' lineup, especially for the new quarterback, JJ McCarthy, who will face another hurdle due to Addison's suspension.

Despite the suspension, Addison will still be allowed to practice with the team during training camp and participate in preseason games. The Vikings plan to adjust their lineup using other receivers and offensive players during the suspension.

It is worth noting that Addison has not officially appealed his suspension. This suspension is seen as the NFL's final punishment related to this incident.
