The fifth season of "Emily in Paris" expands its setting to the Eternal City, but holy interruptions are causing a ruckus. Sources close to US Weekly dished that pesky helicopters from TV stations following the new Pope have caused havoc on the set of the popular Netflix series.

A confidential informant revealed, "The choppers from the networks covering the new Pope have stirred up quite the commotion." Filming near the Spanish Steps was a tangle due to the tumultuous noise. Scenes featuring leading lady Lily Collins and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu were hit the hardest.

"They had to reshoot scenes because the ruckus was ear-piercing," the insider added, mentioning that these distractions happened just three days into filming in Rome.

The Rise of Popes: Leo XIV Takes the Throne

On May 7, the conclave to elect the new Pope kicked off. The evening of May 8 unveiled Robert Prevost as Pope Leo XIV, to the jubilant cries of the crowd. White smoke had risen from the Sistine Chapel chimney earlier that day - the classic indication of a new Pope. Italian news outlets reported that the decision was made during the fourth round of voting.

With Rome now a stage for the series, fans can anticipate the return of actors such as Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), or Lucien Laviscount (Alfie). However, one central character will be absent from the upcoming seasons. French actress Camille Razat has announced her departure from the show, ending her role as Camilla.

A Tale of Two Cities

Though season 5 starts off in Rome, the series isn't planning a permanent move from the City of Love. Filming resumes in Paris later this summer, giving viewers more of the romance, drama, and culturally insensitive humor they've come to love from the series.

  1. I'm not going to tell you what I'm gonna do, but it seems Pope Leo XIV's coronation in Rome could influence the filming schedule of "Emily in Paris," as the helicopters following the event have already caused cancellations and reshoots for key scenes involving Lily Collins and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
  2. Despite the temporary inconvenience, the fifth season of "Emily in Paris" is expected to feature a mix of filming locations, including Rome and Paris, where fans will once again see familiar faces like Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Goury, Lucian Laviscount, and possibly Emily (Lily Collins), though her co-star Camille Razat will not return to her role as Camilla.
  3. When filming resumes in the City of Love, prepare for the familiar blend of romance, drama, and culturally insensitive humor that has defined the Netflix series.
  4. Meanwhile, the new Pope Leo XIV ascended the throne after a contested vote in the Sistine Chapel, with the international press in full swing, capturing the moment on helicopters above, much to the dismay of the "Emily in Paris" production crew.
