Pro golfer slashes 10 strokes at Memorial Tournament, placing him in competition contention.

In Muirfield Village, Ohio, the Memorial Tournament has been challenging the participating golfers through the first two days. With the second round wrapping up, only nine players have managed to stay below par, with Nick Taylor and Ben Griffin leading the pack at 7-under. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is keeping pace at 4-under.

Justin Rose, who came into the tournament following a strong performance, seemed to be struggling after an opening-round 6-over 78. However, Friday saw a drastic turnaround for the English pro, as he dropped ten strokes from his scorecard and finished with a 6-under 66. Despite the significant improvement, Rose remains even for the tournament.

Reflecting on his round, Rose acknowledged that a key moment came at the third hole, where he holed a shot, kick-starting his day. He went on to credit good chips, short game, and putts for maintaining momentum.

Rose's putting performance on Friday was particularly impressive. He led the field in strokes gained putting (+3.71), according to DataGolf, picking up more than seven shots on the field in strokes gained total, second only to Sam Burns.

Despite his enthusiasm about the day, Rose expressed some dissatisfaction with his iron play, stating that he didn't hit them well, but he managed to do everything he hadn't been able to do in the previous rounds.

This season, Rose has had a rollercoaster ride on the PGA Tour, with three top-10 finishes, including a playoff loss to Rory McIlroy at the Masters. If he can replicate his Friday performance during the weekend, Rose could find himself challenging for the win on the back nine at the 50th Memorial Tournament.
