Pro D2 welcomes Grenoble once more, following their win against Nevers

In a thrilling clash at Stade des Alpes on Thursday evening, Grenoble Rugby narrowly missed out on securing a defensive bonus point against Nevers in the Pro D2. The match began with Grenoble taking an early lead, thanks to a try from Bastien Soury in the 23rd minute. This was followed by a tense first half, with Grenoble leading 10-7 at the break.

Grenoble's head coach, Rory Teague, who was appointed in June 2025 and is renowned for his focus on developing young local talent, will be disappointed with how the second half unfolded. Nevers responded quickly, scoring a try through Jules Bousquet four minutes into the second half. Just two minutes later, Liam Turner crossed the line for Nevers, levelling the score at 17-17.

Grenoble, however, regained the lead with a try from Barnabé Couilloud in the 68th minute. The home team seemed set for victory, but a dramatic twist was about to unfold. In the final four minutes of injury time, Nevers secured a try, ensuring they would leave with a defensive bonus point. This was a significant achievement for Nevers, who were delighted with the result. Despite the final score being 20-17 in favor of Grenoble, the loss will be a hard pill to swallow for the home team.

This result comes after Grenoble's previous defeat to Agen the previous week (38-20). Nevers, on the other hand, will be buoyed by this hard-fought victory, which saw them secure their first win of the 4th round in the Pro D2.

Despite the loss, Grenoble can take solace in the fact that they won the opening match of the 4th round. They will look to bounce back in their next fixture and continue their pursuit of promotion. For Nevers, this result will provide a much-needed boost in their quest to avoid relegation.
