Paul McCartney's Beatles Photographs Exhibition Opens in London

Get ready, London! Paul McCartney is set to exhibit his candid photographs of the Beatles at Gagosian London, located at 17–19 Davies Street, from August 28 to October 4, 2025 [3][4][5]. This highly anticipated exhibition, titled "Rearview Mirror: Liverpool-London-Paris", offers an intimate look at the Beatles' early days.

The photographs, taken by McCartney between December 1963 and February 1964, capture the Beatles during their surge of fame in Liverpool, London, and Paris. The images were taken with McCartney's own 35mm Pentax camera and include behind-the-scenes and candid moments from key events and venues like the Lewisham Odeon, London Palladium, and Finsbury Park Astoria [3][4].

One of the exhibition's highlights is a set of frames capturing the tense build-up before the Beatles' transatlantic flight to New York. Another standout image is a self-portrait of McCartney in an attic room, where he famously dreamt the melody for the song 'Yesterday'.

The gallery describes the photographs as "unassuming" and "unguarded", offering a unique perspective as they were taken by a band member himself. The exhibition, "Rearview Mirror: Liverpool-London-Paris", features a variety of images, with some being single shots and others grouped as contact sheets.

The prints on display at Gagosian London are remastered from negatives thought lost for over 50 years. Each framed print is designed in a style by Paul McCartney himself. The prints are signed by McCartney and issued in a small, carefully crafted edition.

Interestingly, this exhibition runs in parallel with the touring show "Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm" at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. If you can't make it to London, you'll still have a chance to see these remarkable images in the United States.

So, mark your calendars and don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to step back in time and witness the Beatles' early days through the eyes of one of their own members.
