Sven Köhler has been named the new captain of Eintracht Braunschweig for the upcoming second division season. Head coach Heiner Backhaus announced the decision, praising Köhler for his leadership qualities and confident presence.
With a younger squad, a new coaching team, and several new players joining the team, Köhler emphasized the importance of cohesion among the team. He is expected to lead by example on the field, guiding the team through the challenges that lie ahead.
"I am excited about leading the team onto the pitch with the armband for the upcoming season," Köhler said. "Challenging times are expected in the coming months, but I also look forward to experiencing some great moments with the team."
Backhaus values the diversity of the team council, which consists of Köhler, goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Lino Tempelmann, Max Marie, Lukas Frenkert, and Mehmet Aydin.
