Radiant Appearance at St. Patrick's Day - Princess Kate returns to public duties at St. Patrick's Day parade
Princess Kate returned to public duties on Sunday by attending the St. Patrick's Day parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot. The event marked her first official appearance since announcing her cancer treatment earlier this year. She led the celebrations as colonel of the Irish Guards, resuming a tradition she missed in 2024.
The princess arrived in a dark green Catherine Walker coat and matching hat, accessorised with emerald and diamond earrings. A gold shamrock brooch by Cartier completed her outfit, reflecting the day's Irish theme.
As part of her role, she presented shamrock sprigs to officers and guardsmen, continuing a custom started by Queen Alexandra in 1901. She also pinned a sprig to Seamus, the regiment's mascot, before awarding medals to 100 soldiers for long service and good conduct. During the visit, Princess Kate spoke with junior cadets from Northern Ireland and met families of soldiers in the sergeants' mess. Her presence highlighted her ongoing connection to the Irish Guards, despite her recent absence from public life.
The parade marked Princess Kate's return to official engagements after her cancer diagnosis. Her participation in the long-standing military tradition signalled a step back into public duties. The event also recognised the service of soldiers in the 1st Battalion Irish Guards.
