Princess Anne Marks 75th Birthday with New Portrait

Princess Anne has celebrated her upcoming 75th birthday with a new portrait, taken last month at Windsor Castle by Chris Jack. The portrait features the princess with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and showcases her wearing several significant pieces of royal jewelry.

The princess donned the Festoon Tiara for the occasion, a gift she received in 1973 from the Worldwide Shipping Group. She also wore the Thistle Star, the King's Family Order, and the Garter Star and Garter Sash. The portrait was issued by Buckingham Palace and also includes the Royal Family Order (QEII).

The Festoon Tiara is often paired with the Diamond Festoon Necklace, a gift from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip for Princess Anne’s 18th birthday in 1968. This antique piece features ribbons, bows, and pendant drops, accompanied by matching diamond pendant earrings. The necklace and tiara have been a staple in many of Princess Anne's official portraits over the years, including those ahead of her 1973 wedding and during recent state visits.

In addition to the Diamond Festoon Necklace and Tiara, Princess Anne also owns the modern Diamond Necklace, a 21st birthday gift from the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in 1971. This piece has been worn alongside Princess Andrew’s Meander Tiara for various official occasions and portraits.

Princess Anne has also been seen wearing the Gold Stalactite Brooch, a cherished heirloom given by the Queen as a wedding gift.

As Princess Anne prepares to celebrate her 75th birthday next week, she will not have major celebrations but will instead mark the occasion with a royal engagement. Additionally, she has invited members of her charity patronages to Buckingham Palace for the occasion.
