Prince William leads Remembrance Assembly for young people ahead of Armistice Day

Prince William will address young people in a video message at the Royal British Legion's Remembrance Assembly. The event, targeting children aged 9 to 14, will also feature a two-minute silence at 11:00 AM. The Prince will discuss the significance of wearing a poppy on Armistice Day and the importance of remembrance.

The virtual event will take place on YouTube and Zoom, with the Prince's message aiming to teach empathy, resilience, and responsibility. It will include first-hand testimony from two World War II veterans, 101-year-old George Durrant and 100-year-old Prince Albert Jacob.

Meanwhile, King Charles III, Prince William, and the Princess of Wales will attend the event at the National Memorial Avenue in Staffordshire. The Princess will also visit the Armed Forces Memorial, view newly dedicated names, and meet veterans. A reception at Windsor Castle will honor Pacific veterans of the Second World War, commemorating the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Attendees will include King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duchess of Gloucester, and Prince William.

The Remembrance Assembly and related events serve to honor and remember the armed forces' hard work and dedication. They provide an opportunity for reflection and learning, particularly for young people, about the significance of remembrance and the poppy.
