Halle's Electric New Musical: "Klosical" - A Witty Ride by Ex-Prince Singer Tobias Künzel
Timeless Tunes by Prince-Singers - No Tranquil Retreat - "Prince Singer's 'Klosical' - No Peaceful Symphony"
Crack open a cold one, folks! Tobias Künzel, the former frontman of Die Prinzen, is shaking things up again with his latest project, "Klosical" - a riotous musical that's tearing up stages in Halle. After a successful London premiere, the show is now making its German debut.
With "Death on the Throne - The Loosical" already under his belt, Künzel isn't new to the world of musicals. "Klosical" marks his sixth foray into the genre. This time around, the quirky set-up brings together an eclectic mix of historical bigwigs, from Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher to Elvis Presley and Erich Honecker. Introducing two actors, four puppeteers, and an energetic live band, Künzel will even take the drums himself.
The idea for this unusual title emerged over a few drinks with co-writer Mark Underwood. "After our third pint, we decided we'd write a musical," Künzel recalls. "I just came out of the loo and said, 'It'll be a Loosical.'"
One could argue that translating the original English production into German posed a challenge for Künzel. "English is just easier when it comes to music, it flows nicer," he admitted. "German always sounds harder, a bit scratchy. But the German version has a few jokes that the English one doesn't."
If you're wondering where the quirks of "Klosical" stem from, look no further than Künzel's past. A master of satire, he's gained notoriety for his witty lyrics and catchy tunes with Die Prinzen. In "Klosical," audiences can expect a potty-mouthed musical extravaganza that's sure to leave you with your sides aching from laughter.
A brief glimpse into the musicians behind the show
Tobias Künzel rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Die Prinzen, a pop group that enjoyed significant success in Germany with their whimsical lyrics and infectious melodies. In addition to his work with Die Prinzen, Künzel has also demonstrated his versatility by branching out into musical creations.
Together with Mark Underwood, Künzel brought "Death on the Throne – Das Klosical" to life. The musical takes a comedic and satirical approach to historical figures, unfolding in an unusual restroom setting. The plot revolves around a murder mystery that plays out in a humorous, absurd way.
With its comedic themes, clever wordplay, and outrageous situations, "Klosical" is the perfect addition to Halle's entertainment scene. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to experience live comedy at its finest!
The Commission, amidst its tasks, has been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, much like the protection needed for the live band playing energetic music in Tobias Künzel's latest musical, "Klosical." Just as the musicians bring life to the stage in Halle, entertainment mightcarry its own hidden dangers requiring careful consideration.
