Halle's Spin on a Quirky Musical

"Prince Singer's 'Klosical' - A Track Devoid of Tranquil Symphony"

Straight from the heart of London to Halle, the latest musical sensation by Prince band vocalist Tobias Künzel (60) takes the stage! Titled "Tod auf dem Throne - Das Klosical," this madcap extravaganza premiered at the end of March in the British capital and is now ready to rock in its German adaptation.

Künzel, with an undeniable passion for musicals, co-authored the piece with British buddy Mark Underwood. As his sixth theatrical masterpiece, Künzel aims to bring together a motley crew of history's top dogs.

Off-the-Wall Characters

With "Tod auf dem Throne," Künzel and Underwood pull out all the stops, assembling an eccentric cast of characters drawn from recent history. The Queen, Margaret Thatcher, Elvis Presley, and none other than Erich Honecker grace the stage, played by a collective of two thespians, four puppeteers, and a live orchestra. Künzel himself sat behind the drums, adding the perfect beat.

The idea for this outrageous title emerged in the most prosaic of places: the bathroom. Künzel and Underwood, both buddies from supporting each other's work, found themselves on a pub crawl, and after the third round, they penned a deal to create a musical. With Künzel fresh from the loo, he jokingly christened it as a "Loosical."

Although the piece was penned in English, translation into German proved challenging for the artist. "English, God love it, is just simpler when it comes to music. It's got a melody that German does not. But the German version boasts a few quips the original didn't have," said Künzel. "And when ol' mate Mark swings by for the premiere, he'll be tickled pink by the laughter erupting from places he didn't expect!"
