Sussexes Fund African Dance Troupe - Prince Harry and Meghan Donate $50K to Ugandan Children’s Dance Troupe Ahead of Netflix Doc

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have shown their support for a Ugandan children's dance troupe, Masaka Kids Africana. They donated $50,000 to the group via GoFundMe on November 12. The donation coincides with the release of the trailer for their upcoming Netflix documentary, 'Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within', set to premiere on December 9.

The documentary, directed by David Vieira Lopez and Oscar-nominated Moses Bwayo, tells the inspiring story of Masaka Kids Africana. This dance troupe consists of many orphaned children who have found joy and purpose through their art. Prince Harry, Meghan, and their son Archie discovered the group through their viral videos during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project was first announced in August when the couple extended their creative partnership with Netflix. The documentary is produced by Archewell Productions, with Prince Harry and Meghan serving as executive producers. This donation is not the first act of kindness towards the dance troupe. The couple had previously given money for the children's group before the project associated with the Netflix documentary began.

The donation of $50,000 by Prince Harry and Meghan will support Masaka Kids Africana, helping them to continue their artistic journey. The upcoming documentary promises to shed light on the resilience and talent of these young dancers, providing them with a global platform to share their story. The couple's ongoing support for the group is a testament to their commitment to uplifting and empowering young people around the world.
