Prince Albert II Honors Historical Ties in Aix-en-Provence Visit

Prince Albert II of Monaco, accompanied by Madam Mayor Sophie, visited Aix-en-Provence for an official engagement. The trip honoured historical ties between the Grimaldi family and the city, with a focus on Cardinal Jérôme Grimaldi's role in fostering these connections.

The Prince's itinerary included a reception ceremony and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Hotel de Caumont. He also visited the cathedral and attended a reception at the Arbaud Museum. His cultural tour extended to the Granet Museum and the Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, where he viewed exhibitions dedicated to Cézanne.

In recognition of his visit, the Sovereign was made an honorary member of the Academy of Sciences, Agriculture, Arts and Fine Letters of Aix. Notably, Prince Albert II lent a work to the exhibition 'Niki de Saint Phalle - The magic beast', further enriching the display.
