Announcing the Multi-Party Delegations' Global Advocacy Efforts
Prime Minister to Conduct Meetings with Groups following Global Journey in the ensuing week.
India has mobilized multi-party delegations to tour key international capitals on a 33-country mission, representing a significant move to emphasize India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and combat extremism effectively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with these delegations next week, possibly on June 9 or 10.
The itinerary of these delegations, including high-ranking representatives from several political parties and former diplomats, covers a wide range of regions, including the European Union.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Baijayant 'Jay' Panda leads one such mission, which recently visited Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, and is set to be the first delegation to return home. This delegation is due to meet Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at 2.30 pm on Tuesday to provide an update on their progress.
The mission includes notable members like BJP leaders Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi, nominated Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu, former minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former foreign secretary Harsh Shringla.
This decision by the prime minister to meet all delegations is a significant stride as opinions suggest that the concept to send the teams overseas stems directly from the PM's office. It marks the first interaction between the PM and the delegations since they began their tours on May 21.
As part of this campaign, the delegations have brought up pressing issues regarding Pakistan's role in promoting terrorism, contending Pakistan's reluctance to act even when India provided substantial evidence following the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Moreover, they have pointed out the direct or indirect links between major international terror attacks such as the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and the 2005 London bombing to Pakistan.
As a result of their meetings with foreign officials, the two delegations concluded their visits to Russia and Japan recently with "constructive outcomes". This tour underscores India's determination to further strengthen its alliances worldwide and unite against the growing threat of terrorism.
Operation Sindoor, India's military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, ignited this diplomatic initiative aimed at garnering international support and exposing Pakistan's involvement in terrorism.
