In an exciting turn of events, Toni Krahl, the legendary frontman of the iconic East German rock group City, is set to embark on a solo tour this November. This marks his return to performing City's music, three years after the band's dissolution.

Founded in 1972, City was one of the most successful rock groups in East Germany, hailing from East Berlin. The band, known for their powerful melodies and poignant lyrics, gained a massive following during their active years.

Krahl, now 75, has assembled a new band, KINX from Prenzlauer Berg, for his solo project. The band includes musicians such as Reinhard Petereit and Tobias Unterberg, with Krahl seeing himself not as the "boss" but as a friend within the group.

The tour, which begins on November 22 in Freiberg, Saxony, will likely include popular City songs. Fans can expect to hear classics like "Sag niemals nie," a song from the album "Genauso war's," which contains the poignant lyrics: "Without fear, there is no hope. An exit is always open."

Krahl's debut solo album, also titled "Genauso war's," will be released on September 19. This personal album explores heavy, melancholic themes as well as lighter, uplifting moments, and includes songs about the loss of close companions and the day after City's final concert.

The tour schedule includes a performance in Saxony, with more locations to be announced. This solo tour is a continuation of Krahl's connection to City's music, and a testament to his enduring love for performing their songs.

City gave their farewell concert in December 2022, but with Krahl's solo tour, their music lives on. The tour promises to be a nostalgic journey for fans and a chance to revisit the powerful music of one of East Germany's most iconic bands.

In an era where rock music is often overshadowed by other genres, Krahl's return to the stage is a reminder of the enduring power of rock music and the artists who have shaped it.
