Houston, We Have a New Coach!
Roberto Hilbert, a local lad and a former German national football player, is stepping up as the new head honcho for SpVgg Greuther Furth's U23 squad. The current U19 head coach is passing the baton to him, with Leo Haas moving on to the FC Bayern Munich youth system, as announced by the club.
Hilbert, who's now 40, wrapped up his playing career with Furth back in 2019. With roots in the very same club where he started his professional journey, he's no stranger to the Furth turf. He kickstarted his coaching career as a co-trainer for the U23 team in 2019 before ascending to the U19 head coaching role in 2022.
With a respectable eight caps for the German national team under his belt, Hilbert's nowhere near green behind the ears when it comes to the beautiful game. Starting with the 2025/26 season, he'll be leading the charge for the U23 team.
