Preview Takes Place at the Sports Stadium
The city of Vienna is set to welcome a new sports arena, a significant milestone for Viennese sports, as announced by Councilor Hacker. This state-of-the-art infrastructure, located in Leopoldstadt, will cater to both recreational and elite athletes.
The new sports arena, spanning over 13,000 square meters, will accommodate approximately 3,000 spectators. It will be equipped with fixed and mobile tribunes, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience for all.
The largest part of the 6,500 square meters will be dedicated to athletics, providing ample space for training or competitions. Additionally, the arena will offer facilities for various combat sports, with smaller rooms set aside for training purposes.
The new sports arena will not replicate the former Dusika Oval in many respects. One notable difference is the absence of the bike track, which was the only one in Austria available in a hall. However, the arena will be versatile, catering to a wide range of sports including handball, volleyball, football, basketball, badminton, floorball, hockey, table tennis, yoga, dancing, and various combat sports.
While the architectural group responsible for the design of the new sports stadium remains undisclosed, the anticipation among athletes and sports enthusiasts in Vienna is palpable. This new arena is poised to revolutionise the sports landscape in the city, offering a modern and comprehensive sports facility that caters to a diverse range of sports and activities.
Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of the new sports arena in Leopoldstadt.
