Get set for a one-of-a-kind sonic adventure at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art! In late June, Grammy-nominated composer and jazz maestro Kamasi Washington will be gracing the David Geffen Galleries with an ensemble of over 100 musicians, turning the new Peter Zumthor-designed building into a resonating soundscape.

For these exclusive performances (scheduled on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of June), the artists will spread across the massive 110,000 square feet of the galleries. The building itself will be woven into the acoustic tapestry, creating a unique auditory experience for all attendees. Washington will be performing his critically-acclaimed six-movement suite, "Harmony of Difference," accompanied by L.A. based artists he's collaborated with throughout the years.

From June 29th to July 6th, LACMA members are offered exclusive tours of the building before the artwork is installed. Construction on the David Geffen Galleries commenced in 2020, and major construction was completed at the end of last year. The impressive 900-foot-long poured concrete structure straddles Wilshire Boulevard. Stay tuned, as LACMA has recently commissioned a trio of works and unveiled a detailed outline of the restaurants, theater, and amenities within the building.
