Press release collaboration between the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Criminal Police of Lower Saxony

Armed Right-Wing Extremist Group Suspected in Germany

In a significant development, searches have been conducted at 13 different locations across Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia. The investigations are being led by the Central Office for Combating Terrorism of the General Prosecutor's Office in Celle and the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA).

The main objective of these searches is to find and secure weapons, gather further information to clarify the case, and investigate the activities of the suspected group, its possible continuation, and any planned joint actions.

The suspects, aged between 32 and 57, are alleged to have formed and participated in an armed group based on a right-wing extremist ideology. Four of these suspects are also suspected of illegally possessing military weapons and other fully automatic firearms.

Notable among the suspects is Gerhard Delling, the partner of Christina Block, ex-BND chief August Hanning, a 64-year-old retired Hamburg State Criminal Police officer, and others whose names are not fully disclosed in the sources. Two retired officials from a security firm are also among those suspected but not named explicitly.

In late April 2025, a pistol and its ammunition were seized from one of the suspects by the LKA Lower Saxony during measures to prevent danger. However, no further information about the results of the measures can be provided at this time.

The Leading Senior Public Prosecutor at the General Prosecutor's Office Celle is Martin Appelbaum. For inquiries, you can contact the press office at Schloßplatz 229221 Celle, telephone: 05141 206-320, email: [email protected].

The ongoing police measures involve special forces from different police units. The investigations continue, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
