Breaking News: Right-wing Extremist Armed Group Under Investigation in Germany

German authorities are conducting a series of searches at 13 locations across the country as part of an investigation into an alleged right-wing extremist armed group. The investigations, led by the Lower Saxony State Criminal Office and the Central Office for Combating Terrorism of the Higher Regional Court of Celle, are focused on eight suspects aged between 32 and 57.

Among the suspects are two active Bundeswehr soldiers, two former Bundeswehr soldiers, and one Federal Police officer. They are suspected of forming a right-wing extremist armed group and illegally possessing military and fully automatic weapons. Four of the suspects are specifically accused of illegal possession of war weapons and other fully automatic firearms.

The primary objective of these searches is to find and secure weapons and gather information about the activities of the group and any possible continuation or planned joint actions. In late April 2025, a pistol and its ammunition were seized from one of the suspects by the LKA Niedersachsen.

The investigations are being carried out across Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia. The police measures, involving specialized units from various police forces, are still ongoing.

Inquiries regarding the investigations should be directed to the Higher Regional Court of Celle. The Leading Senior Public Prosecutor at the Higher Regional Court of Celle is Martin Appelbaum. For further information, you can contact the press office at phone number 05141 206-320 or email [email protected].

However, due to the ongoing nature of the operations, no further information can be provided at this time. The public is reminded to avoid speculation and to trust in the due process of the law.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for updates from the Higher Regional Court of Celle.
