Presidential Authorities Assess Necessary Measures: Presidency Addresses Removal of Tinubu's Ministers
Denying the spreading rumors, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, declared that the reports claiming President Tinubu dismissing some ministers from his cabinet are baseless. He expressed his concern over individuals inventing tales without verifying facts.
Speaking out on the matter, Onanuga urged security agencies to crack down on fake news websites and the people who disseminate unverified stories indiscriminately. He argued that such actions are akin to lawlessness and should be criminalized, as it threatens the very essence of press freedom and freedom of speech.
"Security agencies should swiftly act against fake news websites and the individuals who churn out stories without regard for truth. The freedom of the press and free speech will cease to exist if people can concoct their news and narratives without adhering to reality. Fake news is a form of recklessness and should be criminalized," Onanuga stated on his Twitter account.
Our platform comprehends that the dubious report accused President Tinubu of axing the Ministers of Power and Defense. However, Onanuga's statement aligned with a previous debunking by Renewed Hope United Kingdom, which also dismissed claims regarding the Ministers of Defense or Power being terminated. The group pointed out that the falsehood, packaged as breaking news, is nothing more than irresponsible propaganda intended to deceive the public.
