President Tinubu's Actions Spark Fury in Babachir Lawal

Babachir Lawal Expresses Anger Over Being Passed Over as Tinubu's Vice Presidential Candidate

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has revealed that Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed anger over being passed over as Bola Tinubu's vice presidential candidate.

During an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Wike stated that Lawal visited his house in Port Harcourt to express his reservations about being snubbed. He claimed that Lawal's anger has not been resolved since Tinubu chose Senator Kashim Shettima instead.

Lawal was expected to be Tinubu's running mate for the 2023 presidential election, but was instead replaced by Shettima. According to Wike, Lawal's anger stemmed from his belief that Tinubu would have chosen him as the vice presidential candidate.

Wike did not specify what actions Lawal might take due to his grievance. However, he suggested that Lawal may still be upset about the decision. Lawal was accompanied by one of the former Speakers of the House of Representatives during his visit to Wike.

This sentiment was also conveyed in a TikTok video highlighting Lawal’s dissatisfaction after the announcement. It is unclear whether Lawal has taken any further actions to express his displeasure.

President Bola Tinubu did not choose Babachir Lawal as his vice presidential candidate. Instead, he chose Senator Kashim Shettima. The visit by Lawal to Wike's house in Port Harcourt occurred after Tinubu announced his vice presidential candidate.

As the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike has a crucial role in the administration, and his statement suggests that Lawal may still be upset about not being chosen as Tinubu's vice presidential candidate. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop in the coming days.
