President Biden's son, Hunter, was reportedly part of pardon discussions near the end of his father's presidency, according to a claimed source.
The House Oversight Committee, led by Chair James Comer, is conducting a probe into the autopen use by President Joe Biden and the pardons he issued for several family members, including his son, Hunter Biden. The investigation was initiated after a bombshell report revealed that President Biden issued a 'full and unconditional' pardon for Hunter Biden just under two months before leaving office. This came weeks after Biden had pardoned several family members.
Jeff Zients, former chief of staff to President Biden, met with House investigators for over six hours, making him the final former Biden administration official to appear in the probe. Zients admitted during his interview that President Biden's speech stumbles increased as he aged, and he also noted that Biden's difficulty remembering dates and names worsened over time, including during his administration.
Zients also revealed that Hunter Biden was involved in discussions about pardons toward the end of President Biden's White House term. However, it's not clear how much say Hunter had in the meetings or if he was involved in discussions about his own controversial pardon.
The Autopen investigation by the House Appropriations Committee was conducted by Congressman Budd, and the investigation took place in Washington, D.C. The House Oversight Committee is also investigating whether Biden's top aides covered up signs of mental decline in the former president.

President Biden approved nearly 2,500 commutations on Jan. 17, setting a record for most clemency orders ever granted by a U.S. president. Our website Digital reached out to Zients' attorney and the law firm of Abbe Lowell for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Zients defended his comments, stating that his job was to ensure that the president met with a range of advisors to thoroughly consider issues. The final decisions were made by President Biden and the president alone, according to the second source.
During his time working with President Biden, Zients had full confidence in President Biden's ability to serve as president and is proud of what President Biden accomplished during his four years in office.
